You Should Be Eating This!

There are thousands of foods that healing properties to combat  just about every ailment out there. And luckily, nutritionists, dietitians and medical experts are feverishly  researching and seeking out naturopahic ways for us to look and feel our very best. Not everything good and pure can be put into a pill, and the more you vary your diet, the more you are going to get out of your food in terms of nutrition, vitamins and minerals. Besides, who wants to eat bowl upon bowl of acai berries, blech! Variety is the spice of life!


Sea Veggies.  The ocean is chalk full of vitamin enriched delicacies. Sea greens like kelp, and nori contain have been coveted by the Japanese and Hawaiians for generations to help regulate the thyroid gland, slow the hair loss process and increase circulation to the hands and feet. There are hundreds of recipes that will allow you to incorporate these essential foods into your every day diet.

Black Beans. These little beans pack a big of punch. Not only are they absolutely delicious in your favourite Mexican meal, they're good for you too! Jam packed full of magnesium, which promotes calcium absorption. Not only that, they also contain a bucket load of antioxidants, almost 10 times more than tomatoes! Ay caramba! 
Cauliflower. This is one of my favourite vegetables. Not only for its taste, but also for its versatility. It may not be green, but it is absolutely bursting with anti-carcinogens, that have the potential to slow inevitable cancer-cell growth in the body. Only 1 cup of florets gives you over 90% of your daily vitamin C intake. It can be eaten raw, steamed, sauteed, or my personal favourite, a puree in place of mashed potatoes. 

Barley. Perfect for individuals who can't have wheat, it contains twice the fiber of brown rice. It contains beta-glucans, fibers that have been proven to not only reduce hunger, but also breaks down cholesterol and helps to regulate blood sugar levels. Barley, like cauliflower, is a fabulously versatile super food. Stews, curries, seafood dishes, you could probably eat Barley a thousand different ways!
